About this deal

Transformers didn't end in most European markets when the US line did, with roughly two years of product released after the franchise (temporarily) closed shop in the US. The normal, un-sublined Transformers series continued in 1993, but shared many new molds with the 1993 US Generation 2 line (albeit in different colors, sometimes as different characters), as well as the new "G2" Autobot and Decepticon faction symbols. Technically, these releases are still "Generation 1". In a fun bit of continuity, the camo patterns on the chest and legs actually roughly match those on the Voyager Class figure (but not the original one from 1992). I think the designers did a great job evoking the G2 era with this figure. Universes continue to collide! Transformers: Legacy brings together fan-favorite characters from across the Transformers multiverse. Figures feature deco inspired by their universe with an updated Generations design. In honor of the almost 40-year legacy of Transformers entertainment, the fandoms come together from across the Transformers multiverse, all in one toy line. Not initially released in Japan, this sculpt only got a TakaraTomy release six years later when it was redecoed into " Tank Megatron" for TakaraTomy's United toyline.

A Selects add-on to Earthrise, this version of Megatron is a redeco of the Earthrise Voyager Class mold above in the first Generation 2 toy-themed colors. As a redeco of the Revenge of the Fallen Bludgeon mold, it is highly likely that Megatron is cursed with the same design fault as his brethren - the rubber treads break down over the course of years, causing them to corrode spots of plastic and leave melty gashes behind. Accessories: Fusion cannon, energon mace, energy dagger, laser pistol, Kremzeek figure, Reflector figure

This redeco of ReAction BW Megatron now features translucent purple plastic and a new Golden Disk accessory. This piece was exclusive to Target. A diminutive version of Megatron in his Walther P-38 mode was included as a new accessory with the Transformers Collection release of Starscream. Needless to say, he doesn't transform, but can be held by Starscream in both modes. Megatron's handle disconnects to reveal a peg, which can then be inserted into either of Starscream's fists, which were specifically resculpted for this purpose. Each fist also features a tab on its underside, into which Megatron's handle can be inserted, completing the effect. Megatron can also attach to Starscream's jet mode; the right-hand side of Megatron's handle features a square peg which is designed to fit snugly in gaps in Starscream's pectorals, as in the Generation 1 episode, " S.O.S. Dinobots". Unfortunately, this peg has, for no fathomable reason, been cast in the same sky blue color as Starscream's hands, unnecessarily making it as obtrusive as humanly possible. An additional tabbed right fist for Optimus Prime (complementing his then-upcoming Transformers Collection Convoy release) was included as well. It’s his second one that’s strange. Instead of the transforming sword of the original, he basically comes with a long spear of tank parts. It’s a cannon, the front of a turret, and a tiny blade on the end, loosely styled after the same G1 sword as the Siege version’s accessory. Also, it’s got a removable panel stashed below the turret, that’s meant for the alternate mode, but just kind of hangs out there. It’s a bit hard to explain it, which is why I’ve got pictures. Scaled to the same height as 20th Anniversary Optimus Prime and designed in only twelve days by Hisashi Yuki, [2] Masterpiece Megatron is an incredibly complex figure—potentially one of, if not the, most complicated Transformers toys to date—designed to depict a fairly show-accurate Megatron capable of transforming into a realistic (if oversized) Walther P-38. In achieving this seemingly impossible goal, Megatron winds up with the least articulation of the Masterpiece line, as well as a notably low percentage of die-cast metal. This mold was additionally used to make the purple-recolored Megalligator (indicated to be Generation 1 Megatron), released individually to be his own character Megalligator and was proposed for Albitron, which never reached fruition. The Iguanus version was used for Crazybolt.

At BotCon 1996, a donated Hero Megatron redeco was one of the items in the charity auction, along with several other canceled Generation 2 toys. Though Megatron's wave was scheduled for a first quarter 2015 release, it arrived on U.S. store shelves in late 2014. The earliest Generation 2 product made it to market in time for Christmas 1992. It was a modest start, at least by production standards, made up entirely of classic products. Most of them had new decos, but some, like Inferno and the Dinobots, were nearly identical to the originals at first glance, with only an "AUTOBOT" stamp somewhere on them as a deco difference. Many had new accessories replacing the old, outdated missile launchers, and toys with built-in launchers had those completely retooled away to non-functionality.

Fairly simple for the size. Open the sides of the turret to form his arms, fold the rear down to form the lower half of his body, flip out the boots and feet. Slide the cannon onto his right shoulder, which should cause his head to pop out. Rotate the forearms and you're done. There are panels on his calves that cover the thighs, and close up once the boots are out - a nice touch. The toy still retains the opening panels on its forearms, despite no longer featuring the large missiles they are designed to store. The Hasbro release of this figure was in gold, dark brown, and silver. The Hasbro release is known for being remarkably fragile — the deep brown plastic used for Megatron's waist and torso is prone to eventual breakage due to stress fractures. This has often been mistaken for a form of Gold Plastic Syndrome, but is really more of a design flaw coupled with weak plastics. The Takara version, which used a different plastic, does not have this problem. The Hasbro version had three different variants all based on the shade used for the transmetal parts, some were pink, some purple and others a darker blue purple. As with other Netflix series figures, Megatron was exclusive to Walmart in Canada and the United States. Megatron was also available as a Kmart exclusive in Australia.
