About this deal
These TVs upgrade Hisense’s other lines’ traditional LED panels to Quantum ULED panels as well as supporting the full suite of HDR functionality, in addition to bringing full-array local dimming to the table.
In dim viewing conditions, the black levels were satisfactory but with some noticeable lighter edges to the panel and even if slightly off-axis these black started to look milky and navy, losing the deep black look. We use Calman colour calibration software, a Murideo Seven Generator and Klein K-10A meter for measurement and calibration. This TV is better suited to normal living room viewing conditions with some ambient lighting, or bias lighting, where these issues are not as noticeable. The colours are decent, but since it’s only an 8bit + FRC panel, you only get 100% coverage of the sRGB spectrum, rather than a wider color space like DCI-P3. When you couple that with frequent sales, if what you’re looking for is a really cheap TV that’s still relatively modern in terms of specs and features, Hisense is almost always a brand worth considering. While you don’t get loads of sophisticated functionality with it, it is very intuitive and easy to navigate.
Crampton And Moore (Television) Limited are a credit broker and are Authorised and Regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. The demo reels shown at CES had very few dark areas, so it was difficult to get a sense of how well they actually performed. As for availability, according to Hisense, the U76N will be available in late January 2024, with the rest of the ULED lineup coming out later this year. Although admittedly, the HDR brightness isn’t as bright as you’d get elsewhere so the contrast could be better. HDR is a disappointment on the A7G as it is just not bright enough to create peak highlight details or the steps of contrast required to produce a high dynamic range image that pops. For most types of TV broadcasts, the sound will be loud and intelligibility is very good, though not as rich as a standalone soundbar.
