From the first sentences on I was drawn into the story. This is probably due to the first-person perspective. Cassiel Winters is 21 years old and is faced with something that seems " to grow over her head"(as we Germans say). Does anyone else notice how awkward this girl's body looks? I mean, it fits in with the content of the novel, but where'd her arm go?! Cassiel Winters is one of few women training to be a part of the ESE (Earth Space Exploration), an agency dedicated to space travel, discovery, and protection of Earth. After failing her combat test for the first time, Cassiel is about to get a second chance. However, she didn’t join the ESE and move up to space to live in a space station for nothing. Cassiel’s brother has gone missing on a secret mission for the ESE, and she is determined to find out what happened to him. Nobody can know about her talent, or who knows what they’d do to her. In a time of typewriters and steam engines, Iris Winnow awaits word from her older brother, who has enlisted on the side of Enva the Skyward goddess. Alcohol abuse led to her mother’s losing her job, and Iris has dropped out of school and found work utilizing her writing skills at the Oath Gazette. Hiding the stress of her home issues behind a brave face, Iris competes for valuable assignments that may one day earn her the coveted columnist position. Her rival for the job is handsome and wealthy Roman Kitt, whose prose entrances her so much she avoids reading his articles. At home, she writes cathartic letters to her brother, never posting them but instead placing them in her wardrobe, where they vanish overnight. One day Iris receives a reply, which, along with other events, pushes her to make dramatic life decisions. Magic plays a quiet role in this story, and readers may for a time forget there is anything supernatural going on. This is more of a wartime tale of broken families, inspired youths, and higher powers using people as pawns. It flirts with clichéd tropes but also takes some startling turns. Main characters are assumed White; same-sex marriages and gender equality at the warfront appear to be the norm in this world. Sky’s End is the first book in the Cassiel Winters series and takes you on a ride that includes, intergalactic warfare, good looking aliens, and a bit of mystery.

And she learns that her secret visions are at the heart of it all.MI PERSONAJE FAVORITO: Kell´an es el segundo al mando en la Horda de Thell´eons. Es la pura perfección, músculos bien definidos, alto, ojazos verdes, lo único que no me gusta es que todos los Thell´eons van rapados y a mí los hombres sin pelo no me dicen nada, así que yo me imagino a todos con pelo xD. Espero disfrutar de más Kell´an en el segundo libro porque al final se ve que es más que un guerrero despiadado. Soy Team Kell´ean para siempre.
