The wacky Moon Shoes are made of quality, high-density plastic, adjustable nylon straps with sure-footing and nonskid treads. Kids started bouncing around the house making one heluva racket on the hard floors and narrowly missing light fittings and hanging cupboards.

Moon Shoes came out, originally, around the 1950s as an effort from Nickelodeon to create toys – and were made of metal. I can honestly say I have never laughed so much as I did today watching Erin test out the Moon Shoes for the very first time.

Not sure if it is because of the heavy foot wear or the concept of them being on the moon, but at the end of the day they were tired. Moon shoes are the original mini trampolines made for feet so kids can jump with anti-gravity effects. There are a bunch of replacement bands, so if your bands start to wear out, you can just switch them out for a new set, and keep on jumping!

I always wanted some of these as a child but never had a pair, so was so excited that Erin got the chance to give them a go! My son’s weight meant that we needed 2 bands per slot and it took me around 10 minutes for the first shoe and as I got quicker, five minutes for the second. It’s the feeling that is really part of the fun aspect of them, though when you do jump into the air, if you lift up your feet, you can feel like you are really flying for a moment!

If only there were Moon Shoes for adults as well – I am sure I’d love reliving my childhood and playing around with a pair too! You also have to add extra bands or remove some, depending on the weight of the person who is bouncing. The Moon Shoes consist of a large self-centring shoe platform with a secure non-grip surface, attached with rubber bands that are secured to the base allowing flexibility to create the perfect bounce. As you walk, the elastic bands flex and stretch just like they would on a traditional trampoline, making every step feel like you are walking on the surface of the moon. Erin has really enjoyed trying to jump as high as she could or over obstacles we had set up around the garden. So I suspect the heights shown in the ads are probably down to artistic licence rather than moon shoes allowing you to reach dizzy heights. Designed to be worn with your normal shoes – Erin opted to wear her sturdy boots to support her ankles, slipping them into the base and tightening the velcro straps to secure them in place.Whilst they need to be used with care (as is the case with any trampoline based product), they are great fun for playing outside and burning off some excess energy now the weather is a bit brighter. Robin seems the most comfortable in the shoes, learning how to race around in them, but also enjoying the ability to bounce and jump in place.
