About this deal

I used a black tropical wool I bought on Etsy, of questionable quality, and the pants stretched when worn so I could have used the correct dart size and seam allowance. My only quibble is that i'm only 5' 4" tall, so the legs are a little on the long side - would be good if they did a cropped range as well! Knickers: Medium to heavyweight, soft or crisp fabrics such as cotton, linen, wool or blends in broadcloth, homespun, twill.

Enter the Hollywood trouser pattern, I made a muslin to check the fit and after a few seam adjustments, lengthening the leg to allow for heels etc I can honestly say I will sew these again and again. Unlike normal pants, where the waistband actually sits below the waist, forcing fat and loose skin upwards to create the dreaded 'muffin-top' and even restricting your movement. Turning off the personalised advertising setting won’t stop you from seeing Etsy ads, but it may make the ads you see less relevant or more repetitive. I am an advanced beginner to intermediate amateur seamstress, and these were my first trousers with fly and zip. Wool Crepe, Wool Suiting, Wool/Lycra Blends, Rayon Crepe, Rayon Blend, Linen, Cotton/Lycra, Stable Medium Weight Knit. The cut, design and thought that has gone into Hollywood Pants means that those bits you dread showing off are totally taken care of.

The waistband is twice as tall as most leggings, wide enough to cover a multitude of sins, and as it’s double-layered , it gives a smooth outline without restricting movement or being overly-tight. These leggings are amazing for giving you your figure back or for giving you that little bit of extra support on your legs and tum. The pants have a waistband cut onto the front with a separate two-piece back waistband, front pleats, single welt front pockets and back welt and button/loop, partial lining. The emergence of pants as acceptable public attire for women began in the early 1930, largely due to the enormous influence of the movies and the high-profile movie stars. The only edges that could not be finished at the beginning were the curved bottom edges of the pocket bag and pocket stay, because they had to be sewn together first.Grab a pair of heels and your favourite top and you have a great outfit for a night out or add a dress and sandals for summer, the leggings will give you the confidence to wear something totally different too with your new figure. You need pants that make you look taller, thinner, leaner and firmer whatever the occasion, but keep you in complete comfort.

It should say “…push the fly SHIELD out of the way” since you are going to be stitching the zipper the the facing. If a tight-fitting waistband doesn't reach your problem areas it will just push them out, not cover them up! One thing I think would really help the novice or intermediate sewist is more info on why the pattern may be adjusted and how to make the adjustments. The fabric I chose is a bit too thick but it's beautiful and good quality- good for a fall/winter suit. If you want ‘Hollywood hourglass hips’ and a ‘box-office bottom’ in seconds, you need the control, comfort and confidence you get from Hollywood Pants. The ratings/reviews displayed here may not be representative of every listing on this page, or of every review for these listings. Trousers: Thread; two 1/2″ (13 mm) buttons; one 7″ (18 cm) zipper; 1/4 yd (23 cm) of medium weight fusible interfacing for waistband.
