The world the author paints is rich and unique, and we are given all of the backstory without it ever feeling exposition-heavy. With aspects of Howl's Moving Castle and even a touch of Harry Potter, this story has so much more then just a Beast trying to get a Beauty to fall in love with him. Victoria brought all of Lisane’s fiery spirit to life and Matthew, new to me narrator, was growly perfection. She seemed eager to "find" herself and become strong and independent and while the author descriped her like in her father's home (and it was very clearly not a life that would be considered enjoyable), I have a hard time believing that a life of solitude with a monster who imprisoned and humilated you?

Thank you so much for the ARC, I greatly appreciated this opportunity, and getting to read this spicy novel early before release! The book sucks you in and it's so easy to read, I would've finished it in one sitting if I wasn't sick. Every mage gets one clear vision on the eve of their Ascension into their full powers, right before they get the brand of their mage-mark: you see the thing that will cause your absolute demise. I couldn't put it down and I can't wait to read the next one to see how it progresses and the relationship between Rhaim and Lisane goes. There was a short plot twist towards the end that I didn’t really expect so it gave it some nice excitement. Ik vind het leuk dat het van beide POV is en de worldbuilding is kek en ik kan Beauty and the Beast er wel in herkennen.

Bend Her is book one in the Transformation trilogy and is the dark fantasy story of Lisane and Rhaim. I liked the magic system, although I’m a little unsure of Lisane’s mysterious magic because I’m not clear on what direction that is going. A dark fantasy romance about Rhaim the All-Beast, a cruel beast mage doomed to die at the hands of the woman he must protect, and Lisane, the Princess of Tears, who needs to learn magic so she can be free—no matter the cost. I needed space—he was everything I hated and he made me hurt—but somehow he also made me magical, and I didn’t understand.Comunque è un dark romance che penso si possa considerare abbastanza soft e per questo può essere un ottimo primo approccio al genere per chi vuole provarlo. He perfectly captured Rhaim’s dark, alpha, touch her and you die sides as well as the fact that despite his fears he finds himself falling for Lisane.
