About this deal

My Shure’s soundstage appears flatter but wider to me while my Starfields’ deeper and thus more three-dimensional. Somewhat rolled-treble and extended bass shelf in-hand, the Starfield is, accordingly, a considerably warm IEM with a tendency to delve into congestion on more complex tracks. The Moondrop Starfield is a single Dynamic Driver design with a 10mm diameter Carbon Nanotube (CNT) diaphragm.

Different from KXXS's sharp, wide, accurate sound field and super clear analysis, Starfield pays more attention to loose, delicate, soft, stretched sound and excellent quality at the same time, achieving a delicate balance between balance and musicality. There's a minor peak on the upper mid-range which made the overall upper mid-range kinda sweet and a bit intimate. Despite its weight, my ears doesn't felt any discomfort, isolation is not the best but it is good enough even in moderately noisy environments. In the Starfield's case, however, the single dynamic driver's diaphragm makes use of this carbon nanotube technology to improve stiffness and rigidity for better detail retrieval ability and to reproduce higher frequencies as well. That alone should probably be a testament to how much I like the KXXS, and I have well over a couple hundred hours on my unit.

My suspicion is that this will likely depend on how well they're taken care of, so it might be a good idea to put a foam divider into the small round case that it comes with to prevent the two earpieces from touching. Tonally and in terms of timbre the midrange is pretty flawless, it’s the other technical aspects where the Starfield falls short. The Moondrop Starfield is a 110 dollar IEM, it has a single Dynamic driver that sports carbon nanotubes per side. The experience is not what I would consider dense or hefty, it is again…moderate in tonality and physicality.

But, vocalists and Jazz, Rock, and similar genres without a focus on wide-field recording presentation offerings end up sounding superb.

Actually I’m uncertain between the Starfield and the 1More Triple Driver; wich one would you recommend? In fact, I’ve spent hours listening to YouTube rips of my favorite guitarists because the experience is just that pleasant. The main deviation would be in the bass which slopes out further, lending some extra note-weight to male vocals (not at all a bad thing); the Harman target is a good deal more incisive at around 200hZ by comparison. The weight can be a bit of a bother if you smaller ear-canals but for most people I think it’ll be fine. This IEM has a smooth feeling on the low end, lacking a strong sense of dynamic and physical impact (strike and wince factor).

Though I would say the treble is a little bit too safe, I wish for it to have a little bit more sparkle. As a result of this physical presentation, the stage width takes a nosedive and live recordings are not as fun as I would like them to be. Overall, I would say that the Starfield are about average without any glaring faults in the technical department, and place tuning over ultimate performance. mm) thick diaphragm have a combination of high rigidity, high toughness and lightness, and provide clear, detailed and smooth treble. But compared to KPE (Haven't tried KXXS yet), the bass on Starfield has a smoother presentation than KPE. But because you have never ever had better vision, you cannot imagine how could this be even better.
