About this deal

Sign up here to receive marketing communications from GO Outdoors Retail Limited (t/a Fishing Republic). Let’s be honest though – you do end up paying more for Rab equipment, but you know that it will do the job well. The sack will fully cover your sleeping bag, but the shape is a tapered ‘mummy style’ which does not leave much room for your feet to move around at the bottom. Fully waterproof, light and breathable_ Compact size for easy carrying_ Roomy enough for you and your kitSometimes you need a weatherproof space for rest and shelter - but you can only carry the bare essentials.

A mate of mine has the 2 person version of this ("Telemark 2") which I've used and it was fantastic.

The Lanshan 1 allows more traditional camping and isn't heavier or much more expensive than the Oex Salamanda.

I am actually not that experienced with how to approach airing a tent in a cramped urban hostel, maybe there is some practical advice you can give. Also if you aren't intending to go to mountainous regions you could get away with just a bivvy bag as it is summer, but there's always the chance of getting caught in thunderstorms etc. In our view, the hood system is slightly better in the Highlander Hawk, but with the OEX Bush Pro being substantially cheaper, it’s certainly a close run decision. Which gives a bivvi or tent with a smaller area an advantage in the practicality of airing it to my mind.

Finance is provided by PayPal Credit (a trading name of PayPal UK Ltd, Whittaker House, Whittaker Avenue, Richmond-Upon-Thames, Surrey, United Kingdom, TW9 1EH). Length is 230cm and so can take a >6ft tall male with room for a sleeping bag and smallish rucksack inside.

Practical: With an Adjustable pull-cord opening and internal valuables pocket it'll help you feel secure whilst keeping the elements out. I haven't used the Polestar either, my experience with that style of tent is condensation can be an issue but YMMV. I think a lot of it depends on your route, if you aren't going to remote places you can usually find guesthouses. If you’re ok with the idea of being fully enclosed in bad weather and having the top of the bivvy close to your face then we think this is a great lightweight option. living in the UK without a car means i cant go to places like Dartmoor or the lake district, meaning i cant just wild camp wherever. The Ionosphere comes in two main parts – a double-hooped ‘undercarriage’ mesh section which forms the frame of the bivvy, and then a highly waterproof (5000mm HH) and breathable ripstop outer fly sheet which goes over the top. It uses an excellent grade of waterproof, windproof and breathable top layer material and packs up reasonably small (32cm by 9cm). The top of the bivvy bag completely zips up, but there is no way of keeping it off your face, and sleeping can get difficult.
