About this deal

The Samsung OLED G8 comes with a small but solid stand that requires a Phillips-head screwdriver to assemble. Both this problem, which is currently a priority for me, and none of the problems I mentioned were solved by updating the monitor software from version 1444 to version 1602. It isn't bright enough to fight glare, but it at least maintains its brightness consistent across different content.

Information about the maximum horizontal viewing angle, within which the image on the screen is of acceptable quality. The Samsung has a smaller screen, but because they have the same resolution, the Corsair has lower pixel density and worse image sharpness. Even then you're not done as changing inputs requires multiple buttons presses on the remote (yes, there's a remote control too) to pick your way through the painfully slow and poorly designed OS.

The integrated IoT hub allows the users to check all the IoT devices wirelessly connected to the monitor, while the SmartThings app allows users to monitor IoT devices throughout the house with ease.

The USB type-C port enables you to power up, transmit data, and even send display signals between devices with just one connection. Sadly, the text clarity is only decent as the monitor uses a unique subpixel structure, causing color fringing with some larger text elements as well as on the edges of windows. The Samsung Odyssey OLED G8/G85SB S34BG85 and the MSI MEG 342C QD-OLED are similar monitors that use the same QD-OLED panel. The screen does not use a Native NVIDIA G-sync module like Dell’s screen does, allowing for support of these alternative video interfaces, including HDMI 2.If you want all the best display news from this year’s CES event in one, easy to follow summary, check out our round-up video here. Crafted for maximum quality, the Neo Quantum Processor ensures crystal-clear imagery so that your favourite worlds, dungeons, and environments are rendered like never before.

But with the extra gaming monitor features like DisplayPort, fast refresh and G-Sync support, there is added value that you won’t get from a TV. That said, you can still enable it in HDR, which is useful if you need to use it in a well-lit room. Fast-action and complex game scenes are projected stably and stutter-free with AMD FreeSync Premium to power your competitive edge. The all-encompassing 1000R display fills every part of your peripheral vision and draws you right into the character's shoes. Problems with the monitor vary depending on the cable used, whether it is a microHDMI port or a mini DisplayPort, although due to the set of ports available to me, I normally use an HDMI - micro HDMI cable.

It’s almost as if the display were designed by multiple engineering groups who did not integrate all the features into a cohesive whole. Instead of being able to view two windows, one on each screen, I can now easily view three good sized windows alongside each other. While there aren't many options on the market for OLED monitors, there are a few with a focus on different features, like the LG 27GR95QE-B, which has a 240Hz refresh rate but uses a regular WOLED panel as opposed to a QD-OLED. Keep in mind that to get 3D rendering that can handle 240 Hz requires a very expensive video card, and it is not a given that you will get the highest quality with some games.
