Had he not written in the genre, Rhodes would have been remembered an expert on apocryphal literature and medieval manuscripts, as director of Cambridge's Fitzwilliam Museum, and Provost of Eton. This was M R James first collection of stories which he had begun many years previously, reading them to friends. Light edge rubbing to covers with slight creasing to the top of the front cover and a tiny chip at the bottom of the spine.
