About this deal

This book is full on Irish dialogue right from the get go, I honestly had to read the opening sentence three times before I understood what it meant. When my Big Day finally arrives, whenever that might be, I've already decided I want the ceremony no earlier than three o'clock and we're definitely doing the speeches after the meal, not before. I loved the way she embraced her new friends and their lifestyle, even when she was deeply uncomfortable with it, as at a techno disco on a Berlin city break. If you're Irish you'll really appreciate the humour, slang, phraseology, and cultural references in this book.

Being married to an Irishman, and frequently visiting Ireland, I was transported to Dublin, with the wonderful people and fabulous accent. But after almost 500,000 copies sold in Ireland alone, they said they want to end on a high note, and feel ready to leave the world of Aisling behind.

Aisling is joined by a whole range of other characters and each of their personalities and quirks really come through. With plenty going on both in Dublin and at home in the country, there isn't a single moment of boredom. It takes a while to truly figure out the narrative style, and rhythm of the story, but once you’re adjusted the characters really take shape, and the whole thing becomes an enjoyable read. and people are still arriving down to breakfast, heading sheepishly towards the buffet like they have all the time in the world.

Only six hours ago, he was singing Mr Brightside with his eyes closed in the residents' bar and looking back now I'm fairly certain he was crying. Read it in a day which was handy but it kind of felt like I was reading a low budget RTE show about 'sterotypical country Irish girl goes to big city' - not for me although I will read the sequel as I stupidly bought the two books together.

Aisling is the friend we all wish we had; she's the sensible one when we go out and always makes sure that we get back home safely and she's the one to go to for money saving tips and best deals. This is not a genre I usually read and, despite being Irish and having lived all my life in Ireland, the drinking, social, partying culture has never been part of my personal experience. I catch sight of my reflection – mother of God, I didn’t even take off my makeup last night, that’s highly unusual – and wince.

Armed with an never ending supply of Parma Violets (which I still hate to this day but my mum swore where a motion sickness remedy) w would then endure the long drive to Fishguard with mum shouting "don't make too much noise, you'll distract your father", "no, we're not nearly there yet" and "if you hit your sister one more time, I'll smack the back of your legs so hard you won't be able to sit down for a week! Aisling commutes to work in Dublin at PensionsPlus and enjoys the comforts of living with her parents, who coddle and support her. Letztendlich muss man sagen, dass hin und wieder wahrscheinlich eine kleine Aisling in jedem von uns durchschimmert. There is drama, crazy antics, and pure comedic genius throughout interwoven with moments of compassion, sensitivity, and openness that really touched my heart.Einige meiner Mitleser/innen bei der Leserunde haben hier Absicht vermutet und das dies eben der spezielle Humor des Buches sei. The characters are appealing and so entertaining, but the star of the show is, without a doubt, Aisling. Oh My God, What a Complete Aisling made me smile and laugh, and though she's odd in many ways, I really warmed to Aisling - seeing the world through her eyes is so entertaining, and left my hugely amused. Ich fand es stellenweise zu übertrieben, zu gewollt lustig und Aisling als Protagonistin viel zu weltfremd und naiv.
