About this deal

The progression of the characters is fantastic. Both Kaya, Kyouhei, Masaki, and Marika grow so much during the course of the manga. I loved watching as Kyouhei let his guard down and Marika began to accept that his pride had only grown more. there's a certain amount of effort to keep a distance is very disheartening. Even after they realize they're love there are still walls up.

kept saying herself "Oh, I fell in love with a bad man, but I have to serve him in everything for being his secretary", these moments made me roll my eyes many times. "Chapter 1". Midnight Secretary (in Japanese). Vol.1. Shogakukan. p.6. ISBN 978-4-09-130857-3. This is part two of a three part novella series & begin's right where part one left off. I am absolutely in love with this series. This story is highly intriguing & you will not be able to put it down. The characters are compelling & the plot is captivating. A must read paranormal romance. One thing that did really work for me is that Midnight Secretary is a manga about adults. I’ve been getting really into anime and manga over the past few years, but I’m always frustrated when the vast majority of stories seem to revolve around high school and teenage characters. I prefer reading about grown-ups doing grown-up things, especially when there’s romance involved. So the fact that Midnight Secretary is about career-driven adults who sometimes need to drink blood is nice. I don't usually read the romance genre - I just liked the idea of a vampire being secretly the CEO of a company without anyone knowing. Then there was a whole witch subplot with the main female lead, which was more than I was expecting, but coming from fantasy books I would've liked to see more of that. I'm aware that's not the priority of this book though, so I won't hold that against it too much.

Japanese Comic Ranking, November 11–17". Anime News Network. 19 November 2008 . Retrieved 13 April 2009. For his part, Kyohei really is a bastard. He seems to go out of his way to be a bastard, especially towards Kaya and his older brother. Though, there also seems to be a thoughtful side to him, too. And after a while, he really comes to depend on Kaya and appreciate her as a secretary. He doesn't hesitate to remind her that she's plain, though. Until he sees her all dolled up and notices that she really isn't plain at all. She goes out of her way to make herself look severe because she's self-conscious about her baby face. It isn't long before something happens between them. Kyohei doesn't seem to know how to deal with it and just when I think he's figured it out, he makes it about her blood. I think there's more to it than that, but I wouldn't be surprised if Kyohei doesn't understand his own feelings when it comes to something other than sex or drinking blood. Touma is your basic Alphahole Hero--he's arrogant, rude, condescending, womanizing (though that's partially out of necessity) and controlling. He chides Kaya constantly about her "plain" appearance and makes unreasonable demands even BEFORE Kaya finds out he's a vampire. Kaya for her part is more timid in these early chapters, but what seems softness and hesistance on her part morphs into just how committed she is to being the BEST secretary she can be under any circumstances.Okay, mini rant about the official translation... It's not the best?? First of all, why do they call Touma "Tohma"? It's written "とうまきょうへい" which is literally To-u-ma Kyo-u-he-i. Why would a professional manga translation company make this dumb a mistake?... (Also, based on how often it appears in manga and anime, Touma is a really common name in Japan). Fetishized Abuser: Kyouhei has outright hidden information from Kaya, just so she'll worry and squirm more because it's more amusing to him than to tell her. He's not particularly violent but does know how to take no for an answer. His relationship with Kaya is half mind game and half love affair. Even if he later changes, the narrative has always treated him as sexually attractive. Midnight Secretary ( Japanese: ミッドナイト·セクレタリ, Hepburn: Middonaito Sekuretari ) is a supernatural romance manga series by Ohmi Tomu that was serialized in the manga magazine Petit Comic since 2006, with the 34th and final chapter published in the May 2009 issue. [1] The serial chapters were collected in seven shinshobon volumes by Shogakukan. Viz Media licensed the series and released the first volume on September 3, 2013. [2]

She is hired as a secretary to the CEO of Midnight Pharmaceuticals, Sebastian Storm. It doesn’t take long for her to notice some strange happenings while at work. Strange comings and goings by beautiful women. And then there is the way that he makes all her girly parts tingle whenever he is nearby. But she is determined to be successful. She can’t lose this job. No matter how sexy her new boss is. Oops I actually finished and retuned this book yesterday but I finished it over my lunch break and forgot to rate and review. Sometimes, feelings get you so confused that you don't know what to do. That's what happens to Kaya in this volume. She's a smart young woman, who makes a wonderful secretary for Director Kyohei. But, it's obvious that she has fallen head-over-heels for him. She's tired of seeing women streaming in-and-out of his office, with none of them--even her--being anything more to Kyohei than just a constant and consistent food source. There is some really really bad family drama going as well. The family drama between the male lead and his mom was ok actually. Dare i say decent. But when the female leads mom was involved that was kinda shit.

What If the Baby Is Like Me: Reason why Kyouhei doesn't want to have kids, and is meticulous about condom usage. He has to get over it in the final volume, when Kaya becomes pregnant, and the baby is clearly a powerful vampire. For Kyouhei Touma, she was careful to note various details of his appearance depending on the setting of the scene. In particular, his hair was the most difficult to draw. [7] Manga [ edit ] Favorite Quote: “Then you have to keep your mouth and fangs to yourself!” she jumped up from the couch, not minding the blanket that fell to the floor. LOL what? Okay, let me spoil the first chapter for you and you can join me on the Rollercoaster of Disbelief. It was good!! Very good. I loved both the literal title drop at the end and the shift to what I assume is going to be status quo for our characters.

Like I stated above, this series is ramping up the sexual content. So steamy scenes will occur! I love the artwork and how the characters are drawn. Their expressions and body language says so much into the story! Midnight Secretary follows the relationship between Kaya Satozuka, a private secretary, and her boss, Director Kyouhei Touma of the Touma Company, who is a vampire. And also— a note about manga sex scenes: this was my first time reading a full on love scene in a manga. (Well, in a manga that wasn’t just a straight up doujin. Don’t judge me. Sometimes you gotta read hentai with mild disinterest, as if you’re reading the morning paper). HapiMari is definitely on the spicier side, but Chiwa and Hokuto are holding out to build tension. As for the love scene here, it’s actually about the level of steam of any typical Western romance novel, just drawn out. All jokes aside, it’s weird thinking about how different human sexuality is when it’s sketched out as opposed to written word. Though perhaps that’s my inner Jehovah’s Witness being squeamish. In any case, it was tasteful and it did move the story along! On closer perusal of the publishers this is a VIZ Europe division that has so far released Anime in German, and they are branching out into manga this year - with Midnight Secretary as one of the launch series. Other launch titles include Toriko, Blue Devil and Akuma to Love Song (which IS licensed in the US but under the title Devil and her Love Song). I am left wondering not only about this business Kyohei will start with his wonderfully dedicated secretary/lover, Kaya, but also about how much he will open his heart and allow Kaya in.

Midnight Secretary Vol.1 Chapter 1 : Bloody Night Office

Tareme Eyes: Compare Kyouhei to Takasu. Devious, demanding Kyouhei has tsurime eyes, while understanding Nice Guy Takasu has tareme. More than Mind Control What Kaya fears Kyouhei is doing to her. He isn't. He comments it's more likely the other way around. Puny Earthlings: How vampires see humans. To them, humans are just a source of food, tools, and an occasional sex toy. It's one of those books where I looked at the premise and thought it was interesting, but didn't expect the writing to be my type of thing. For the most part, that was about right for me since I ended up laughing most of the time.
