About this deal

The OEX Hyena II Tunnel Tent is designed to be easy to set up and take down, making it an excellent choice for campers who are perhaps new to pitching tents. The tent comes with clear instructions that are easy to follow, and the colour-coded poles make it simple to identify which pole goes where. You can comfortably pitch the OEX Hyena II in less than 10 minutes. The poles are colour-coded to avoid any confusion and once the poles are threaded through it’s just a case of pegging it out and adjusting the ropes. They are one of the only tent brands (at least in this price range) that build tents strong enough to be left up for long periods of time, while also being perfectly easy to set up and take down for shorter car camping trips. Being double walled and utilizing mesh doors, it also provides ample ventilation to prevent condensation in both summer and winter.

However, that’s not to say that I would trust this tent on the side of a mountain in a proper gale. That’s just not what this tent is made for at this price. Other Features Not only is the tent large and full of features, it also uses extremely high quality materials throughout. In terms of interior space, the easiest way to illustrate the sheer size of the tent is that it is large enough for three queen air mattresses plus room to spare for your belongings. If you do keep the divider in place, you can squeeze, and we mean squeeze, a double bed in both rooms if you really need to. And if you need any more convincing that this a worth while buy, NTK offer a lifetime replacement on any broken poles. The Hyena II has a hydrostatic head rating of 5000mm, which means it should be able to withstand heavy rain without leaking. The tent’s flysheet is made of 75D polyester with a PU coating, which provides excellent waterproofing. Additionally, the tent’s seams are taped to prevent water from seeping through. The tent’s groundsheet is also strong and waterproof ensuring that occupants stay dry even in wet conditions. Wind resistance The Hyena II features a range of design elements and features that make it a reliable and practical choice for basic camping trips. Tent materials

In terms of its winter capabilities, it can handle all the harsh weather you can throw at it. From wind and snow to rain and hail – none of it will make it inside your tent. Overall, the OEX Hyena II Tunnel Tent is an excellent choice for anyone looking for a tent that is easy to set up, even if you’re not an experienced camper. The clear instructions and colour-coded poles make it simple to put together. Weather resistance There is also a large interior tent that you can attach to the main area of the tent and partition into two bedrooms or keep it as one large bedroom. If you do remove the divider, there is enough space for one queen size mattress and a little room for belongings, or a double mattress and tonnes of room. While many 4-season tents are usually only used in winter due to their weight, the Tasmanian is light enough to be comfortably used all year round. So if you’ve had bad experiences in the past with cheap tents leaking during rain then you can rest assured this tent will never leak on you. The bedroom divider can be removed to create one large bedroom if you don’t have a need for two separate rooms. The tent features a decent ventilation system that helps to regulate the temperature and reduce condensation inside the tent. The tent has two large vents at the front and rear, which allow for excellent airflow. The inner tent also features a mesh panel that provides additional ventilation and helps to keep insects out. Ease of setup Despite being priced affordably, the OEX Hyena II Tunnel Tent does not compromise on quality. The tent is made from decent quality materials that are designed to withstand the elements and provide a comfortable shelter for its users. It’s absolutely perfect for a first time wild camper who plans to pitch somewhere that isn’t too wild or extreme. The OEX Hyena II tent has an HH rating of 5000mm. In layman’s terms that means that this tent is going to be very waterproof and withstand even the most torrential downpours.

The OEX Hyena II Tunnel Tent is not really be suitable for tall people. As always with tents, even though the inner says 210cm in length, when you factor in your sleeping mat and slope of the end of the tent, your feet will be pressed against the inner material if you’re much over 6ft tall. Storage The flysheet is also designed to be easy to attach to the poles, so you don’t have to spend ages fiddling around with it. Last weekend I camped in the Peak District, right next to the High Peak trail, and from 11 p.m. until the early hours of the morning, it was absolutely torrential. However, everything inside the tent stayed perfectly dry and there were no signs of condensation either, thanks to the large vent at the rear of the tent. Durability At 3kg it’s obviously not the lightest two-person tent on the market, but it is easily manageable at that weight and if you’re new to camping or if you’re looking to try your first wild camping adventure, this price point could make that little bit of extra weight worth carrying. One person can easily set up the tent in around 10-15 minutes, while two people working together can have it up in even less time. The tent features a simple two-pole tunnel design that ensures stability in windy conditions.

For context, a hydrostatic head rating of 2,000mm means the fabric can withstand heavy rain and driving wind, while anything above this can withstand water being pushed through by something physical, such as your body weight when laying on the groundsheet.

The tent is made from good quality materials that are designed to withstand all but the harshest UK weather conditions. The flysheet is made from 68D polyester with a waterproof rating of 4000mm, while the groundsheet is made from 150D polyester with a waterproof rating of 5000mm. The tent also features a breathable inner tent made from 68D polyester, which helps to prevent condensation build-up inside the tent. Tent poles The OEX Hyena II Tunnel Tent is designed to accommodate up to two people, but as mentioned earlier, in reality it’s suitable for one person plus gear. The OEX Hyena II is designed to withstand fair winds, but we wouldn’t recommend this tent for use up a mountain where winds can gust even when no wind is forecast. For the price, the tent has a stable tunnel design with two poles, which provides excellent stability in fairly windy conditions. Remember also that budget tents can be a bit ‘flappy’ in winds too. OEX Hyena II Tunnel Tent – comfort and convenienceNot only does the dark room technology keep your tent darker, but cooler too. Allowing you to sleep in past sunrise without feeling like you’re in a sauna. The Coleman Oak Canyon is the perfect tunnel tent for couples and small families looking for a camping holiday with a little bit of luxury. Along with the generous sized bedrooms, the tent also features a large living area that has enough space for an inflatable sofa and other bits of furniture.
