About this deal

Apply the first polyurethane coat gloss (water- or oil-based), allow it to dry, then use sandpaper to scuff it off, either wet or dry.

Matte wood floors have a long shelf life, which is advantageous. With a matte finish, your wood can keep its appearance for a more extended period of time. It covers up any imperfections Unlike paint, varnishes and stains are designed to soak into the wood. You can even apply a clear varnish to the stain to improve the finish and also make it more durable. These are also available in solvent and water based variations and also in a variety of colours and shades. Next, smear a second coat if necessary. Depending on the quality of finish you want, you can either rub out this coat or scuff it and apply the third layer. This is an ideal choice, considering the fact that it does not show much dirt, dust, or footprint, making it perfect for homes with many kids and pets.Generally, matte and low-luster coatings hide scratches, filth, and other flaws far better than shiny floors.

Thinner (or Solvent): This is the ingredient that thins the oils and resins to allow the varnish to be applied easily. Having done its job it should evaporate and allow the resin and oils to cure and harden. The thinner can be a range of solvents, such as turps or white spirit. Water can be used in some varnishes To reduce bumps and defects in the finish, stroke with the grain with moderate pressure. To rub the wax or polish off, use a clean cloth or an electric buffer that has a lambswool buffing cloth. Why Matte Wood Floor Finish? Getting matte formulations isn’t an easy task. However, one to get it is to start by applying all the oil-based polyurethane coats your woodwork requires, then wait for it to dry. Gives floors Diamond Hard protection from shoes, scratches and spills, while highlighting the natural beauty of the wood. Varnish can be applied with a brush, which is more typical, or a roller. If you are planning to use a roller use one with a short pile. See here for help on choosing a roller. Apply with the grain to get a smooth and even finish. When applying Manns Floor Varnish over water-based wood stains, apply the first coat of varnish or primer lightly with just one or two light brush strokes in the direction of the grain, then allow to dry. This will seal in the wood stain allowing additional coats of varnish to be applied with ease

Please Note: Special care should be taken when applying the first coat of this product over a water-based stain as excessive brush or roller strokes over the same area may potentially dislodge or drag the stain from the timber. Cleaning Equipment Using 400-grit or finer wet/dry sandpaper, scuff the finish. Moisten the paper with a small volume of water to help it smoothly cut the finish more. Varnish is also its own primer and undercoat, although in some cases it is better to thin the first coat with roughly 10% white spirit (for solvent varnishes) and water for water-based varnishes. This is particularly true if you are using a polyurethane varnish. In most cases it is also better to apply this with a lint free cloth and you are able to rub the varnish into the wood grain better than you could do with a brush. Thankfully nowadays all commercially produced varnishes are of exceptional quality and will perform very well in the right setting. Freshly sanded floors should be swept and vacuumed to remove all traces of sanding dust, dirt and debris
