About this deal

One of the key takeaways here is that the S95B can get brighter than nearly any other OLED TV on the market. And not just pure white brightness, which can tip the meter at nearly 1200 nits in HDR or around 500 nits in SDR — both very impressive numbers — actually, it’s the color brightness that really sets this TV apart.

For those looking for a little more refinement and accuracy to get the true cinematic experience, the S95B can struggle to fulfil that brief and the Sony A95K is the better bet in this regard (our review is coming soon). Plus, the LG C2 and G2 series for 2022 have superb accuracy, Dolby Vision compatibility, better HDR gaming and much improved video processing that is a step up on the Samsung S95B. Your choice of screen all depends on what your needs are, but we have never had such great choice before. Not that this makes the S95B QD-OLED in any way a relic. When it comes to shared features, these OLED TVs cover many of the same basics. Both panels have four HDMI 2.1 ports, with the S95B supporting 4K up to 120Hz and the S95C going one step further by supporting a 4K signal up to 144Hz. As I’ll be covering more in the next section, the S95B’s bodywork is astonishingly thin for the vast majority of its rear, leaving precious little space for such prosaic things as speakers. The biggest surprise, given our experiences with other Samsung TVs, is that the sound actually seems to have a forward dimension, rather than everything sounding as if it’s happening behind the screen. Dialogue, in particular, comes out at you rather than sounding swallowed and detached. S95B's incredibly thin, futuristic display is supported by a sturdy table stand. Subscriptions required. Some apps may not be available at launch. 3rd party content providers may remove apps from the Smart TV platform or stop updating them at any time. Smart features are provided by Samsung’s latest Tizen interface, which delivers a complete revamp of the system found on Samsung’s 2021 models. The quantity of apps supported on this new Tizen iteration continues to be exemplary, including all the big hitting streaming services bar Freeview Play (though all of the catch-up apps for the UK’s main terrestrial broadcasters are supported individually). The S95B’s all-new panel design is driven by a specially adapted version of Samsung’s Neural Quantum Processor 4K, complete with elements devoted to boosting brightness and colour, enhancing perceived resolution and improving upscaling of sub-4K content. The same goes for how the S95B handles tone mapping for HDR video games. Presently, it seems its tone mapping can not be defeated, which can make the HDR calibration feature built into the Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 a bit difficult to get dialed in properly — it’s easy to wind up with a washed-out picture if care is not taken. LASER SLIM DESIGN: Daringly discreet, this stylish TV has a profile so thin it was inspired by a laser beam; The groundbreaking Laser Slim Design has a minimal bezel and an ultra-thin side profile; On or off, behold the beauty from a TV that’s barely there The A95L's feet can be positioned more centrally on the 77-inch model to reduce its footprint, but not on the 55- and 65-inch variants. All models can be raised to accommodate a soundbar. One of the first TVs on the market to fuse OLED and quantum dot technologies into a single set, the QN65S96BAF all but promises next-generation picture quality by dint of its existence—and largely delivers. We tested the set using an X-Rite i1 Pro spectrophotometer, a SpectraCal VideoForge Pro pattern generator, and Portrait Displays’ Calman calibration software and encountered some outstanding results. use of the content you supply does not violate these Terms of Use and will not cause injury to any person or entity.

As of now the ONLY 3 QD-OLED displays are on the active market is the Alienware AW3423DW with the MSI MEG 342C coming soon using the Samsung Display Ultrawide QD-OLED panel. Fully prepared for the S95B to not live up to the QD-OLED hype, despite the success of Sony’s A95K, in fact we couldn’t suppress an involuntary ‘wow’ as soon as we clapped eyes on the Samsung set’s pictures. Speakers are somehow worked into the slim panel's rear chassis. (Image credit: Future) Samsung S95B review: design The LG G2 OLED, by comparison, delivers a more composed, considered performance with games. So while the Samsung takes it for sheer impact, LG’s G2 can probably at least claim a score draw for gaming, and may edge it for gamers who value accuracy and consistency. I wish I could have paid less (or more) for the TV without the OS, but this has still been a worthy buy thus far.

Thank you for your reservation.

The Samsung S95B’s audio is in some ways a pleasant surprise, given how insanely thin most of the TV’s bodywork is. With regular day-to-day TV audio and the relatively spartan talky scenes that actually make up most of a typical movie’s running time, the sound appears clean and nicely staged, with the OTS system doing a startlingly effective job of making specific sound effects appear as if they’re coming from the right place both on and slightly beyond the screen. Especially with Dolby Atmos mixes. The above charts show the S95B’s color levels out of the box in Movie mode, with an SDR signal compared against Rec.709 broadcast standards and with an HDR signal compared against DCI-P3 digital cinema standards. In both cases, they’re about as perfect as we’ve ever seen. All SDR colors are spot-on, as are all HDR primary colors. Cyans, magentas, and yellows drift very slightly, but are still very accurate. The color performance is very similar to the LG C2’s, with greens that reach just a bit further into ideal saturation levels and secondary colors that are a touch less on point. We retested the peak brightness in HDR with the latest firmware, 1302. The TV no longer produces bright flashes of around 1400 nits in the 'Movie' and 'Game' modes.
