About this deal

If your budget can't quiet stretch to the other EcoAir model on this list, the DD1 Simple ( previously known as the DD122) could be a good alternative. It'sa compact desiccant dehumidifier with a two litre water tank, although it doesn't come with the advanced features of the MK5 Classic. For homes that are exposed to lower temperatures, you can feel confident that this dehumidifier is up for the challenge with the ability to operate between 1 and 40ºC. Furthermore, the desiccant technology keeps operating noise to nothing more than a whisper even in colder environments as low as 1ºC.

The unit isn't the lightest or most compact we've tested, but then we wouldn't expect that from a machine this powerful. However, built-in wheels, a retractable carry handle, and cable tidy make it easier to move around the house and store neatly away when it's not in use. The small size doesn't reduce its water extraction capabilities though. It's great at removing water from both cool and warm environments, due to the desiccant technology, and also includes a laundry mode. Other features include an automatic mode tosave energy and low noise output on its lowest fan speed (34dB). This means if you're looking for a small dehumidifier for your bedroom that isn't too noisy, the MK5 could be a good option. And, whilst this Russell Hobbs number is cheaper upfront, running costs are higher, with the 20L dehumidifier using 440W of energy compared to Meaco's 20L Arete One which uses 216W on average. Plus, the Arete One offers a built-in air purifier which this model does not. As for energy consumption, you can find out more in our guide to ' How much does it cost to run a dehumidifier?'. However, the easiest way to find out is to compare each dehumidifier's wattage. The higher the number of Watts the appliance requires, the more expensive running costs will be. With a width of 30cm and height of 46.3cm, it's surprisingly compact for a refrigerant model. The depth isn't quite as slimline, however, as the 25cm design makes it deeper than some of the other models on this list. Whether it's the right option really depends on where you plan to use it, so make sure you measure before you buy.

Suitability - Unlike most dehumidifiers which work best between 20 and 30 degrees Celsius, the Pro Breeze 10L Desiccant Dehumidifier works between 1 and 40 degrees Celsius. It's therefore perfect for winters and colder environments. It works wonders on preventing condensation. It can be used in damp homes, basements, garages, bedrooms, wardrobes and kitchens, to name a few.

This super quiet yet extremely efficient dehumidifier will remove up to 10 litres of moisture from the air every day. For medium-sized to large rooms that suffer from persistent issues with damp, the desiccant dehumidifier offers an ideal solution. It is a diverse piece of equipment that can be used for shorter periods of time as well as for continuous use and comes with a drainage hose to aid this type of long-term use. When being used for shorter periods of time without the drainage hose, the device will automatically shut-off once the water tank reaches its limit meaning that no spills or overflow will ever occur. The moisture is collected into its large 3 litres water tank that can be removed and emptied, but the unit is also supplied with a continuous drainage hose so you can automate the emptying.

The width of the DD1 Simple is 29cm, so it won't take upmuch space. It also has a thin depth of just 18cm and weighs only 18kg. This design, combined with the lift-out handle, makes it a great option as a portable dehumidifier. One of the great things about this model is the quiet operation. The sound level output varies between 35-40 decibels, making it Meaco's quietest dehumidifier. This is particularly important in small homes or flats, where a loud dehumidifier could be much more annoying. If you're looking for the best dehumidifier for the bedroom, then, in our opinion, it's all about finding a dehumidifier with low noise volume, and the Silentnight 39899 600ml Dehumidifier is one of the quietest dehumidifiers we've tested.
