Probably a good one to look at if you are literally buying the tripod ladder just to trim the garden hedges trice a year. While some tripod ladders have the ability to have all 3 legs adjusted, this model only has one leg that can be changed to alter the overall spread of the weight, but to be honest, I never felt that I needed to have any more than that. The weight seemed perfectly balanced between the legs at all times and I felt very secure up there, even at the top: There isn’t a platform at the top of this ladder, like there is with the Henchman tripod ladder. This is one of the reasons that this ladder is cheaper than other tripod ladders. It is still comfortable to stand at the top of the ladder however, thanks to the double rungs. Pros

The Niwaki however, is like Estate and garden’s model and doesn’t have rubber caps for use on solid surfaces and is only to be used on softer ground. You can also work on edges without risking your safety, and not need the help of anyone else while you are climbing up or down the ladder. Additionally, you won’t need to rely on the roof or gutter for support or worry that the ladder may slide off and lead you to fall. One of the most commonly used materials for producing standoffs and stays is a rubber pad. Amongst the popular types of standoffs, rubber suction feet are often the most efficient.
The Hendon’s broad feet do an excellent job of gripping soft ground and you really feel dug in and stable. On top of that, there are rubber caps for the feet that will allow you to use this ladder on harder surfaces without slipping or being off balance. When you’re up high balancing for long periods of time on the edge of your foot it just isn’t comfortable. You definitely want to think about having a deep step. One of my favourite tripod ladders for a deep step is the 8ft Henchman. This is remarkably comfortable – 7 inches isn’t much more than the competition in some cases but it takes so much straight off the middle of my foot. Wide clawed feet I have completed a lot of jobs with this ladder over the last year, including cleaning out the gutters, trimming the hedges outside the house and I’ve also used it when cleaning the plastic roof of the sunroom with the pressure washer. Is It Worth Investing In a Tripod Ladder? Rubber stoppers fitted to the side of each section ensure you cannot over extend the ladder – a crucial safety feature, which many others do not have New to the list is the Orchard Garden Tripod Ladder. This is in much ways similar to the Estate Green tripod in the next review but much much better. It’s got a huge sturdy platform to work from and a much wider body.

A tripod ladder isn’t like a regular ladder where the rung widths are the same width the whole way up which makes it harder to hold on and to climb the ladder. For the money, you do get 2.4 metres of beautifully made, high grade, aluminium frame that has some design features I think we should mention. I really like the platform at the top of this ladder, it is a 7 inch deep platform that allows you to comfortably place both feet on the top step without having to balance on a standard rung.
