About this deal

already pointed out (superhumans in a society where they don't belong), however the similarities become thin beyond that point. Notably, unlike the Ghoul of Tokyo Ghoul, the superhumans aren't some underground group but active terroristic threats that leave visible destruction that scars the city, and the specifics of being a superhuman feel less focussed on the necessary evil inherent in being one as much as it does the naturally corrupting nature of the powers it gives you. Also, I will be comparing this series a lot to Tokyo Ghoul as I feel that's where a lot of the most interesting points are in the early discussion for this series. To me again, he is a very talented mangaka not just for the stories he can come up with, but also because of the many symbols he kwows how to put in the right places always. This story may even be more emotional than his last one, and I have the feeling that is going to grow bigger and better in the future. Things to like: Cool, consistent world-building with very versatile power system, great fights with creative power usage and a fun and engaging plot. a b c d Mateo, Alex (May 10, 2021). "Viz Media, Manga Plus Publish New Choujin X Manga by Tokyo Ghoul's Sui Ishida". Anime News Network. Archived from the original on August 21, 2021 . Retrieved August 21, 2021.

This manga is still in its early days but I think it is well worth the read, story, art, and characters are excellent, the world is thought out and full of mystery as the lore unfolds it paints a very realistic take on superhumans ( Choujin ) and how they'd live alongside us the way they would be treated, regulated and the hardships they would face. No Name Given: The man with a Noh Mask is only called "the pharmacist", something in relation to his mask or the Nue Choujin. Eventually subverted when he is revealed to be Batista Hoshi, Sandek's brother. From the same creative mind that brought us the hit manga series Tokyo Ghoul comes another rather dark outing from creator Sui Ishida. If you were a fan of his previous work, there is certainly a lot to love about Choujin X. On paper, both are fundamentally stories about average (and rather plain) individuals being transformed into creatures beyond their comprehension. They are granted abilities they do not fully understand, leaving them feeling like monstrosities that can no longer adjust to everyday life. They have a best friend who seems to have way more going on than the story initially implies, and there is a strong hint of a larger organization orchestrating events behind the scenes.

This might seem very reminiscent of tg to many people but so far the story has a different and more light-hearted tone than tokyo ghoul to me and even with the stories sharing similarities there are many ways to build upon this concept. I am a big fan of Tokyo ghoul, its my all time favourite manga. So as a die-hard fan, I will try to provide an unbias review. So I will be a bit harsh on it.

It's not easy to tell in which direction this will go but so far we have a pretty basic shounen-esque premise about two friends, one being very popular while the other one is the quiet type. Over 50 years have passed since the establishment of autonomous regions began within the world's nations, an outcome initiated from the resulting chaos brought about by "Choujin," individuals with supernatural powers. As a fan of Ishida's previous work, TG, I'm loving this one too. It started off as "goofy" and with a touch of "ridiculousness" to me, especially with how the main characters are handling themselves and are being handled but I'm loving it so far. The hype definitely is real where it's due and the comedic moments made me burst out laughing. Having a great time! Super-Strength: As a Strength Choujin, Monoma has 100 times the strength of a normal person and can lift a tree with ease. She's a little shy about using her powers in front of people when not on a case, though.

At one point, Chandra notes that his smoke has gotten weaker recently, which he attributes to old age. In reality, it's the first hint towards Ely's true nature as a Thief Choujin. Ely's ability to use smoke was taken from Chandra, thus weakening his power as a result. The power system is what I think will grab most people I love it personally. "Choujin are bequeathed the form and power most becoming to them" there are many ways to become a Choujin, you can be born one, you can be infected or artificially made into one, whatever the cause, their powers are based on themselves what they want to be or what worldview they have, an obsession or complex. As of now, I am still unsure if Choujin X will surpass Tokyo Ghoul, but I do think that it has certainly stepped out of the shadow of Ishida's previous work at this point. If it continues in this direction I truly think that Choujin X has the possibility to become Ishida's peak. The way Choujins are more free as a concept rather than Ghouls (i.e. not simply based off RC cells and organs, but rather how the character of who someone is impacts their Choujin form. I see this similar to cursed energy from JJK.) Nightmare Face: Ricardo has four eyes and has tentacles on faces. He uses his appearence to scares a civilian for fun and Tokio notes that he looks teryfying. All I can say about the characters is that they just seem like kids or teens (not that I had a problem with it), but it just seems a bit odd that the kid just beat up a bunch of thugs. The characters don't have the same spark that the characters in Tokyo Ghoul had.

in Japanese). Shueisha. Archived from the original on November 16, 2022 . Retrieved November 17, 2022. Dreaming of Things to Come: Zora can see the future in her dreams. Her first vision was seeing the memorial procession she was part of being killed by Quiem Mc Mann, the Choujin X at the time. Most of her actions in the present have for objective to prevent a calamity that would destroy Yamato as she saw in one of those dreams. Nov 28 Detective Conan Manga Goes on Hiatus for 30th Anniversary, 27th Film's Title & Date Revealed I am kinda disappointed where the story is heading. It feels like a generic shounen, (again, its pretty early to judge as only one chapter released as of now). But it kinda feels like I am reading Chainsaw Man again but...much more weird. I didn't like how suddenly the Main Character- Tokio, got his powers. Its like a mix between Jujutsu Kaisen, Chainsaw Man and MHA. It could have been more interesting, if ghouls continued to exist. I am not really a big fan of this. While training on Ojima, Tokio is wearing a shirt that depicts three figures standing before a sunset with the words "drop out" written beneath them. In chapter 34.4, Tokio announces his intention to drop out of school to Azuma and Ely while the three of them stand before a sunset in exactly the same position as the figures on Tokio's shirt.Choujin X, Vol. 4". Viz Media. Archived from the original on August 1, 2023 . Retrieved August 1, 2023. Two Guys and a Girl: Tokio, Ely, and Azuma are the three main characters who attend school together. Nov 28 COVER Corporation Announces hololive English VTuber Gawr Gura Collaboration with Sendai Umino-Mori Aquarium As for anything else, I can't say much as the story is still in its infancy and I do not see it going anywhere anytime soon (unless Jump decides to axe another great manga like they did to Ayashimon...) The art style is gorgeous as usual, sketchy but not lazy. The character designs are nice; they all have a "cute" look, which I like.
