About this deal

Many users will derive the NS-SEC by employing software to combine occupational unit group (OUG) and employment status. You can also use the derivation tables here. The process is similar to that used for Social Class based on Occupation (SC) and Socio-economic Group (SEG) in Volume 3 of the 1990 Standard Occupational Classification (Office for Population Censuses and Surveys 1991), which cross-classifies OUGs with employment status categories.
