There's yet another new Complete Series Set available for one of the best shows on tv - Game Of Thrones. This set is a great way to celebrate the 10th anniversary of series premiere (especially with a glass the Game of Thrones single malt whisky). First of all, the actual physical look of the box, with a screeching Drogon on the front and gold text and accents, looks awesome.Black levels are definitive and inky with some great detail revealed even in the darkest of scenes without any murkiness or crush. Repeated watches increase your understanding of the characters and reaffirm how good the writing was , the acting and everything else. However, if you haven't bought each season or complete series or Collector's Sets along the way - this is the best way to get the complete adventure of Westeros - Highly Recommended! Additionally, most all the previously released bonus features and commentary tracks have been imported over here from past releases. HBO has released the complete series on Blu-ray previously, and Seasons One and Eight have been released on 4K Ultra HD as well (you can read our review of Season One here on The Bits).

The first thing I watched was Hardhome, and the scene where Jon Snow (Kit Harington) and his men ride up to the Free Folk fishing village on a rowboat was a major standout. But since this 4K collection doesn’t include the episodes on Blu-ray Disc, you can still keep those Blu-rays anyway if you wish. The important takeaway here is that HBO’s Ultra HD release absolutely improves upon the Blu-ray viewing experience. Second, the Season Two Blu-ray available at Target had a bonus disc that added Invitation to the Set, Arya’s New Look, Art Direction, and Weapons featurettes. There are NO new extras on this release, however, most all the previous bonus features have been ported over with the exception of a few.By the time Season Four arrived, Arri was well established and fully-digital workflows were far more common.

Finally, Season Eight was available on Blu-ray at Target and Walmart with exclusive bonus discs that added How the Storm Was Born and From Renderings to Reality: The Visual Effects of Season 8 respectively. Home Entertainment will officially release a massive Game of Thrones: The Complete Collection 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray box set with a Digital copy. As someone else commented below, it looks like they are not making it available in 4K digitally at the moment. I couldn’t get an answer before this was published, but I know Seasons 1 and 8 (which were already available in 4K) also did not redeem in 4K—though perhaps they are waiting until the official release date tomorrow to make all 73 episodes available.It has a prestigious appearance and is worthy of a final box set for an all-time great show like Game of Thrones.

The final two seasons really bring the guts and glory to the audio landscape with some intense battles with thousands of characters fighting each other, along with some wonderful atmospherics of dragons swooping in and out of frame to great effect. Additional audio options on the 4K discs include English, French, Castilian Spanish, German, Russian, and Italian 5.In fact, the extras here seem to be identical to those found on HBO’s recent Game of Thrones: The Complete Collection Blu-ray set—the deluxe version that came in gorgeous window box packaging. A television show that took place during a magical medieval time period, populated with zombies, mystical creatures, monsters, giants, and dragons was not expected to be one of the best shows on television.
