The game received critical acclaim, with praise for its narrative, gameplay, visuals, sound design, characterization, depiction of female characters. Tiny nitpick: I wish the poster and insert were handled with better care, those creases are starting to be a new pet peeve. Also was very excited about the cover having original art rather than the usual Mondo "fan art" that I am not a *fan* of.

Whether or not the average gamer has a record player capable of playing back the records, some are happy to see these records produced, if only for the large, detailed box art. The vinyl version of The Last of Us soundtrack, entitled The Last of Us 4XLP OST, was announced on the Mondo Twitter feed, as a release exclusive to them.

Santaolalla is also known for his work on Brokeback Mountain and Babel, for which he both won the Academy Award for Best Original Score. His music for this series is iconic, and it was tremendous fun to play within that sonic universe, while adding some new layers of madness to fit Craig and Neil's incredible vision for this show. In the original, the plucky guitar performance by Gustavo Santaolalla almost singlehandedly took the post-apocalyptic horror narrative of the game and grounded it firmly in the western genre. Featuring all five acoustic covers from the game's pre-release marketing, or the game itself, this stunning collection of acoustic songs is an essential companion to the original soundtrack album, performed by Ashley Johnson (Ellie), Troy Baker (Joel), and guitarist Chris Rondinella. The artwork, while very stylized, is gorgeous and definitely suits the feelings and impact The Last of Us had on those who've played it.

The game won multiple Game of the Year awards and has been cited as one of the greatest video games ever made. The Last of Us was one of the most emotionally-driven games to date, and the music playing during all of its poignant scenes were a big part of its emotional impact. Having scored both the original video game and its 2020 sequel, Gustavo Santaolalla builds on his previous work, expanding the intimate, guitar-driven soundscape to deliver a score as emotionally laden as the story itself. Nonetheless, it's a great display piece for dedicated fans, even if they don't have the record player to listen to it. The 2013 action-adventure game The Last Of Us was originally published in 2013 by Sony Computer Entertainment and was developed by Naughty Dog.

For PART II, with dual revenge narratives and opposing perspectives, the games team brought on an additional composer to bring another sonic soundscape into the mix: Mac Quayle. The collection will include four vinyl records, and a heavy-duty slipcase featuring artwork inspired by The Last of Us, created by Olly Moss and Jay Shaw.
